HEY… Happy Birthday

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to my blog. Hope you guys are doing well!

So today I’m here to share a card that I’ve recently created for a friend’s birthday, using her favorite colors and coincidentally the color palette perfectly matched with the August moodboard of Altenew Inspiration Challenge!

I’ve use kraft cardstock as the base, used striped floral stamp set from Altenew and heat embossed it with Fabrika Decoru mirror gold embossing powder. Then I colored the image with red alcohol markers, distressed the edges with vintage photo distress oxide, added the sentiment ‘hey’ using Altenew Fine Alphabet die set. Finally finished off the project with some touches of glossy accent and red sequins.

Moments Of Joy - Mixed Media Altered Home Decor

Hello Craftivators!
I’m back again with another mixed media altered art project. Today I’ll be sharing with you how I create a simple home decor using mixed media.

I got inspired by my life and current situations to create today’s piece.
Being a student of architecture, I have to work intensively for hours. Some nights I don’t even get the chance to sleep. My work load have increased to a great extent since I’m working from home in this quarantined time. Sometimes it gets a bit to overwhelming and depressing for me and I start regretting my decisions. But the very next moment I realize that at least I’m privileged enough to get to choose the subject I wanted to study, do what I love, have a secured place to shelter myself in this time of distress and have my loved ones support me for no matter what. Rather than overthinking about everything I should be grateful and happy for everything I have and believe there’s a moment of joy in every day!

This was my dt project for the Splashymix challenge. Their amazing moodboard inspired me to choose the colors blue and brown for this project.

I also got inspired by the lovely moodboard of the MORE THAN WORDS Challenge. I always love birds. When I’m all awake till dawn, the chirping sounds of the birds cutting through the silence always amuses me and makes me happy. I try finding my joy from moments like this EVERYDAY!

A New Beginning - Altered Ring Box

Hello Craftivators!

I’m back again with another altered art project. But today’s project is very special because I altered an engagement ring box!! It’s a very small project but has great impacts. x

Even though the most beautiful things in life are not materialistic things. They are people and the places, the memories and pictures. They are feelings and moments, tight hugs, smiles and laughter. But an engagement ring do have a special place in our heart and has a special impact on our lives which highlights an important event and makes us trust ‘The Magic Of A New Beginning’.

For this special project, I got inspired by the inspirational words and colors of the moodboards of More Than Words Challenge and Mixed Media Academy Challenge.
I also got inspired by the ‘Anything Goes’ theme of the Bleeding Art Challenge to use mixed media on my project.
So this is my take on their January 2020 moodboard, as I take part in their challenges. xx

More Than Words Challenge Moodboard-

I loved the bright and beautiful sunset colors of the creative inspiration and tried to incorporate those colors on my project. The word inspiration ‘highlight’ is incorporated in my project by highlighting an important event of life and also by the sentiment used inside of the box.

The beautiful bright tones and the inspiring quotation on a new beginning inspired me to create this piece which showcases the first step towards a magical new beginning with bright and blooming colors.

Art Journal Layout

Hello Craftivators!
Today I’ll be sharing with you some inspirational pictures of a beautiful art journal layout I recently created. This project is my entry for the More Than Words Challenge for the month of December.
The theme of this month’s challenge is “Rejoice and Anything Goes”

Today’s project is really special and very dear to my heart because it is related with my mother. I ‘rejoice’ every moment I spent with my mom since childhood till today. She has always been my biggest support, reason to smile, a shoulder to cry on and my best friend with whom I can share everything. This layout is a small tribute to her and our special bond.
The picture I used in the layout is from the year 2001, when I was just one and a half years old. This picture is very precious!

For the ‘Anything Goes’ part of the challenge, I used mixed media to complete the project.

Couture Creations Design Team Audition 2019

Hello Crafty Friends!

It’s me, Fairuz Fabiha here from Craftivation.
Today I’ll be sharing with you guys some of my most recent works. This blog post is specially created as my entry for the “Couture Creations Design Team Audition 2019”

1. Diy Faux Wood Mixed Media Wall-Hanging Home Decor:

Sweater weather has already arrived and maybe you are here reading this blog with a warm cup of coffee but we all know that nothing can feel warmer than our “Home, Sweet Home” in this weather.
I love fall. The gorgeous colors of fall have always inspired me to incorporate those colors on my projects. So being inspired by those amazing colors, today I’ll be sharing with you, how I created this stunning faux wood mixed media wall-hanging home decor! Oh that was a bit of a mouthful, lol!

If you want to watch me making it, then do visit my YouTube channel and watch the video tutorial!

Alternatively, here’s a pictorial for you guys!

Step by step process:

1. At first I cut three strips of cardboard of same length and width.

2. Punched some holes for tying rope afterwards.

K

3.  Covered the cardboard strips with tissue paper to add wooden texture.

4. Painted the strips with dark brown paint to give it a wooden look.

5. Splattered some gold and bronze paints.

6. Connecting the pieces of cardboard strips with jute rope.

7. Arranging the flowers and leaves and adhering it on the blocks.

8. Sticking the “ Home Sweet Home” sentiment cutouts. I’ve used gold mirror paper for the sentiment.

9. Last but not the least, adding my favorite neon yellow, neon orange and vanilla brown “The Robin’s Nest” Dewdrops. Tried to create a house like pattern at the bottom with these dewdrops too.

2. Watercolored Card:
This card is one of my favorites. I have used nothing fancy to create it, like no embossing, no stamping, no die-cutting NOTHING! It’s just a simple hand-drawn watercolored card.

3.Mixed Media Canvas:
I love this mixed media canvas as it perfectly reflects my style -Simple, Colorful and Elegant.
